1810 

 

START OF THE PEUGEOT INDUSTRIAL ADVENTURE

 
Jean-Pierre and Jean Frédéric PEUGEOT converted the family grain mill into a steelworks.
 
Various branches of the family then began to produce a wide range of products:
tools, coffee mills, clocks, bicycles, etc.

1891

 

TYPE 3

MARKETED 

 

The first car in the world to be mass-produced (64 examples) and to be driven in Italy (1893), the Type 3 ran from Valentigney to Paris and followed the first Paris-Brest-Paris cycle race over a distance of 2,045 km.

1896

 

SEPARATION OF TRADITIONAL AND AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURING

 

The sons of PEUGEOT Brothers continued to manufacture traditional products (cycles, tools, etc.) while Armand PEUGEOT created the Société Anonyme des Automobiles PEUGEOT.

1897

 

CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST FACTORY AT AUDINCOURT, DOUBS

 

Installation of the first dedicated automobile plant at Audincourt. A second factory was built at Lille in 1898.

1905

 

PRODUCTION OF PEUGEOT LION CARS

 

The sons of PEUGEOT Brothers also moved into automobile production under the PEUGEOT Lion name with different models from automobiles PEUGEOT, so as to avoid being in competition.

1910

 

PRODUCTION AMALGAMATED

 

PEUGEOT Brothers and Armand PEUGEOT joined up, creating the Société Anonyme des Automobiles et Cycles PEUGEOT.

1912

 

CREATION OF THE SOCHAUX FACTORY

 

In 1929, it brought together all Automobiles PEUGEOT's production and became the largest industrial site in France.

1965

 

BIRTH OF PSA

 

"PSA" (PEUGEOT Société Anonyme) was founded to form the holding company for the automotive group of the same name, which owned all the companies in the PEUGEOT Group.

1976

 

CREATION OF PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN

 

The "PSA PEUGEOT Citroën" group was created in 1976 through the merger of Citroën S.A. and PEUGEOT S.A.

1982

 

THE PEUGEOT ADVENTURE IS BORN

 

Creation of l'aventure PEUGEOT, an association under the law of 1901, whose aim was to safeguard the heritage of the PEUGEOT brands. 

The Aventure PEUGEOT Museum in Sochaux, set up in 1988, receives up to 60,000 visitors a year.

2010

 

PEUGEOT CELEBRATES ITS BICENTENARY

 

Among the world's automotive pioneers still in business,

PEUGEOT is one of the few where the descendants of the founders are still represented in its capital and management.
