CHARGE YOUR ELECTRIC CAR

How does one charge a Peugeot electric vehicle?

Peugeot electric cars offer several ways to charge your battery that save you time. In addition, charging an electric car is convenient and easy, and can be done quickly and intuitively.

PEUGEOT e-208 - private charging

Charge at home, at office

Private charging means charging your electric vehicle in your home or at your workplace.
This type of charging is advantageous as it offers practical and economical solutions.
Two types of charging are possible:

  • You can charge your electric car using a standard plug (charger 3.3kW, 8A)
  • You can choose to charge with a Green'up® reinforced plug (charger 3.3kW, 14A). This solution provides faster throughput than a standard plug.
  • Or you can opt for a Wallboxi to reduce your charging time. You can fully charge your battery in 8h. This time can be reduced to 5h with a dedicated cable.

Charging with public charging points

Like the network of service stations for combustion vehicles, there is a public charging network for electric cars. This crucial network continues to grow rapidly and steadily. Today, there are currently more than 1,100 charging points in Ireland and almost 225,000 across Europe.

To speed up charging, you can choose from the fast charging points with which our cars are compatible.

The public fast charging points are able to charge 80% of the battery in 30 minutes.#

Ecodriving tips to adopt

Ecodriving is cost-effective driving that will allow you to maximise the range of your electric car.

Adapt your driving avoiding jolts, acceleration too strong and frequent, as well as braking.

Using Brake mode
Instead of continuously using the brake pedal, use the engine braking system, which allows energy to be regenerated and therefore charges the battery, during the braking and decelerating.

Using "eco" mode
Electric cars are equipped with an "eco" mode that saves energy by reasonably reducing engine power. This mode is preferred in the city because we need less power than on the motorway.

Using the preconditioning
When your vehicle is charged, take advantage to precondition the battery to limit the energy of the heating or cooling systems when driving. Heating or cooling the car during the charge does not make use of the current range

Maintaining the tyres
It is essential to maintain your tyres regardless of your car’s engine type. Besides representing safety, electric cars are concerned with reducing energy consumption, which is liable to increase with unsuitable or poorly inflated tyres.

Long-Term Leasing

Long-Term Leasing also allows you to take advantage of an electric vehicle against monthly rental payments. You only pay for using it. The main benefit of this financing is that it includes services such as maintenance, breakdown repairs and assistance.
Unlike the LOB, the purchase of the vehicle at the end of the contract is not covered by the LTCR.

Leasing with Option to Buy

Leasing with Option to Buy, also referred to as LOB or leasing, allows you to have an electric car against the payment of monthly rents. Apart from these monthly payments, you only pay for the use of your vehicle.
At the end of the contract you have the opportunity to purchase the asset against the payment of an option to buy.

Credit

Buy your electric car with Peugeot car credits and take advantage of a simple and flexible financing solution. You can choose your repayment period, for monthly payments tailored to your budget. You also have the option of determining the date of your direct debit. Lastly, you should know that your vehicle can be financed at up to 100% of the purchase price.

Other questions about electric cars

Are electric vehicles really less efficient than combustion vehicles?

The idea that an electric car is less efficient than a combustion car is misguided. Although they are noiseless, electric vehicles are no less efficient. They reach the same speeds as their combustion engine counterparts, while providing a new level of driving comfort thanks to a quiet engine and reduced vibrations. In addition, electric vehicles accelerate and decelerate just as fast as their combustion engine counterparts.

Are electric vehicles really more expensive than combustion vehicles?

When purchased, electric vehicles are more expensive than their combustion engine counterparts. However, the total cost of a vehicle is about more than just purchase price. In fact, fuel, insurance and maintenance of the vehicle have to be added on to the purchase price. When all these factors are taken into account, then electric cars are more economical than combustion vehicles.
On average, electric vehicles allow for savings of 40% on consumption and 30% on maintenance costs to be achieved compared to their combustion engine counterparts.

Are electric vehicles really cleaner than combustion vehicles?

First factor in favour of electric cars and not insignificant: they do not emit any CO2. Another important factor: if one takes into account its manufacture and in particular that of its battery, it is estimated that two years is the time it takes for an electric vehicle to repay its carbon debt.
Moreover, solutions extending battery life are being developed with each year that passes. This makes it possible to offset the carbon debt resulting from their manufacture.
All these factors make the electric car a cleaner vehicle to use than a combustion car.
