One of Peugeot's commitments as a car manufacturer is to environmental conservation.

Winner of the 2015 'International engine of the year' award in the 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre category, Peugeot’s PureTech 3-cylinder petrol engine technology delivers a drive and performance normally associated with bigger engines but with significantly improved fuel consumption. It’s the result of intelligent, innovative engineering, which combines reduced weight materials with the efficiency of direct fuel injection to give you maximum pleasure behind the wheel, at any speed, for less.

BlueHDi is the name given to Peugeot’s latest generation of diesel engines. The result of a world-famous diesel heritage plus innovation and engineering excellence developed on the race tracks of Le Mans, BlueHDi complies with Euro 6* emission standards, to deliver exceptional fuel economy and CO2 emissions alongside a driving experience rich in power and performance.

A three stage cleansing process specifically targets the pollutants of diesel combustion, removing hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, reducing nitrogen oxides by up to 90% and eliminating 99.9%* of particulates. BlueHDi delivers the cleanest diesel engine possible and exceptional fuel economy of up to 91mpg with CO2 as low as 82 g/km.

Our BlueHDi technology was recognised in the 2015 Next Green Car Awards, with the Peugeot 208 1.6 BlueHDi Active 75 S&S being named 'Best Supermini'.

Peugeot's new generation of automatic gearboxes have been developed in collaboration with Aisin AW. EAT6 uses Quickshift technology for faster gear changes and smooth operation, delivering superb driving pleasure and exceptional fuel and CO2 efficiency.

Why waste fuel if you’re waiting at a red light or in traffic? Peugeot’s Stop & Start system senses when you come to a halt and stops the engine. Then it starts it again as soon as you want to move off. It means you use less fuel and produce up to 15% less CO2 while driving in the city.

Many diesel versions of our current models are fitted with a high-performance particulate filter. This uses Peugeot’s own technology to trap soot particles emerging from the engine. It then burns them in a “regeneration” process controlled by the engine management system. The FAP, as the filter is known, removes 99.9% of exhaust particles, making Peugeot diesel cars a sound choice for the environmentally conscious.
