Coupé 407

PERFORMANCE

The Peugeot 407 Coupé is fitted with a front axle with a double wishbone and uncoupled pivot and an integral multi-arm rear axle with horizontal dampers. This layout, combined with its increased body rigidity and lowered level, ensures that the Peugeot 407 Coupé has excellent wheel guidance and outstanding stability.

Engines

The Peugeot Coupé 407 offers indisputable driving pleasure provided by a choice of high performance, modern engines both in petrol and Diesel HDi versions with particle filter.

Suspensions

Offering road holding of the highest level, the 407 Coupé is equipped with front and rear dampers based on multi-valve technology. They conform to damping patterns specific to the Coupé 407, determined to obtain optimal body rigidity. In addition, the springs of the suspension have undergone major changes compared to the saloon: shorter for a lower ride height, reduced flexibility to improve body strength, longer and denser stops adapted to the new flexibility of the springs.

Steering

To offer great precision while guaranteeing levels of force adapted to different driving conditions, the Coupé 407 benefits from two types of power steering. On the 2.0 litre HDi FAP, the steering is powered independently of engine speed by an electropump unit controlled according to vehicle speed and the speed of rotation of the steering wheel. In addition to the convenience offered compared to traditional hydraulic steering, this system helps to reduce fuel consumption. On the 3.0 litre V6 petrol and 3.0 litre V6 HDi engines, the hydraulic steering offers greater responsiveness and provides assistance in proportion to the force applied to the steering wheel. Controlled by an ECU which optimises the assistance pattern according to vehicle speed, this steering is based on 217 adjustment steps which modulate assistance much more finely, particularly at low speed where the driver benefits from greater assistance.
