PERFORMANCE
The aim of the 308 SW is to offer an optimum ratio between comfort and handling. Also equipped with excellent body rigidity, the 308 SW offers driving sensations derived from more streamlined saloon cars.
Petrol engine range
BVM5 - BVM6 : Manual Gearbox (5 or 6 gears) BVA4 - BVA6 : Automatic Gearbox (4 or 6 gears) PSA Peugeot Citroën has developed and produced a family of petrol engines equipped with the very latest advances in technological progress. Their power output ranges from 120 bhp to 175 bhp and they establish new standards in terms of performance and smooth operation such as a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) (See chapter Emissions)
Diesel engine range
FAP : Particle Filter BVM5 - BVM6 : Manual Gearbox (5 or 6 gears) BVA4 - BVA6 : Automatic Gearbox (4 or 6 gears) BMP6 : Piloted Manual Gearbox (6 gears) Developed by PSA Peugeot Citroën, Diesel HDi (High Pressure Direct Injection) technology continues to meet with growing success thanks to a fuel saving of more than 20% compared to an older generation diesel engine; and smooth driving is obtaining by torque available at low engine speed.
Road handling
The 308 SW has the advantage of an electro-hydraulic power-assisted steering system, pseudo McPherson type front axle and a deformable cross member rear axle. Furthermore, the wide tracks, the various large dimension tyres (up to 18’’) and also the lowered centre of inertia in comparison to the 307 SW, contribute towards the efficiency of this system.
Micro-hybrid technology
Protecting our planet's future is one of today's greatest challenges. Peugeot has risen to this challenge by endowing its 308 range with e-HDi powerplants featuring the next-gen Stop & Start* system, which uses reversible-alternator technology to automatically turn off the engine whenever the car stops moving, such as at a red light or a Stop sign. One distinctive feature of the new system is the seamless restart when the driver is ready to get the car moving again. As a result, e-HDi ensures improved fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions. The technology is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox. *System that automatically stops and restarts the engine.
